My son Super Kid has always liked vehicles, cars, trucks and airplanes he loves playing with them all. His other favourite kind of toys are construction toys so when I was asked by DKL Toys to review a couple of mic.o.mic toys I knew he would be pleased. Basically you build mic.o.mic toys using pre formed plastic components and a press stud connector system. They come with a set of tweezers which means you can take them apart and make them again and again.
We were sent a racing car set and a small car set, here they are:
I made the toys with Super Kid who is five, and he needed my help, as he is at the bottom end of the age range. I would imagine an older child would have no trouble doing it on their own. Super Kid really enjoyed making the vehicles and assembly was the definitely the best part of the toy.
After building the toys he wanted to test them out by driving them around the house. The small car withstood the test brilliantly but the racing car did not fare so well. Basically it lost its wheels and bits of its spoiler fairly quickly, so not brilliant to play with.
I would say this toy is great as a construction toy but not so great for driving games. I think that’s pretty normal with most construction toys and would still recommend it. It is made with very durable, attractive pieces and is really is something a little bit different for a child who likes to build things.
*Disclaimer; we were sent two mic.o.mic toys for the purposes of this review. My experiences and opinions are, as always, my own.
Cute toy! You have the same Ikea car mat as us!
