When my husband and I were working as circus artists the busiest working period was the summer holidays. Then once the children started arriving it made sense to take our holidays during term time as things are so much cheaper then. We never took holidays in the summer, and so have not experienced a proper British summer holiday as a family. Now that Super Kid is at school the time has arrived for us to hit the motorways with the rest of the country and take holidays during the summer break.
We decided to go on holiday with another family with children around the same age as ours. This worked out brilliantly for company, shared childcare and a little evening babysitting for both couples. We hired a cottage in New Quay in Wales and discovered a little gem of a place.
The cottage was a mere ten min walk from this beautiful little beach. The sea was calm and safe, the children had a fabulous time digging in the sand and splashing in the sea.
The holiday was so needed by us all, after a long hard summer. We had dealt with Wonder Girl’s night waking which left us all exhausted and I had changed my meds leaving me anxious and depressed. It was the perfect antidote. We discovered dolphins swimming in the water and every day I stood on this harbour wall and watched them splash and jump in the water mere metres away.
That combined with this sky, left us rejuvinated and ready to face a new academic year.
* Super Kid is five, Robo Boy is three and Wonder Girl is 16 months.
Beautiful pics. So glad you had a nice time x
Thankyou.
I love that bit of Wales, so pretty
It really is ! I have never been there before and will definitely be returning.
It’s a lovely area, I’m so sad my camera decided to break down the day we arrived last time, I’ve got so few pictures.
Yes thats a blow you can take my landscapes without people in and pretend they are yours ?
Lush, we went to Fishgard..the old part of the harbour is so beautiful, I officially love Pembroke
