This week is half term and I find it pretty tricky making my budget last the week when the children are off school. I tend to spend more on activities, and food, which leaves us counting the pennies towards the end of the week. So with this in mind I am trying to have a budget busting half term to see if we can spend less than normal.
Money saving tip of the week:-
Don’t feel that you have to spend money on expensive activities for the children this half term. Here are some ideas for enjoying the holidays without having to worry about cash-flow.
Arrange plenty of play dates. When I was a child I spent most of my school holidays playing on my estate with the local children. This isn’t really possible for my children, living in the city, so I arrange for their friends to come to us. If I’m lucky their friends mums will return the favour.
Visit your local forest for a walk and some autumnal collecting. Then head home and crack open the glue, glitter and paint and use your collection to make some autumn art.
Visit your local playground, a great free way to burn off energy and get outside.
Get baking, all my children love helping me bake (even my toddler) and baking is a great low cost, fun way to while away a morning or afternoon. As an added bonus you get to eat your creations.
