Last weekend we went to Welsh Bicknor to spend the weekend relaxing with some friends. It was a good friend’s birthday and he organised the gathering, so since he reads the blog a huge thanks to Richard for a wonderful weekend.

We stayed in a youth hostel and it was very nice, clean and comfortable.  I would recommend youth hostels as a great budget holiday option for families. I worked out that a family of four could have a private room in this hostel for £420 for the full week. The facilities include a well equipped kitchen meaning you can cook all your own food and their are lots of amazing walks nearby. So if you’re looking for a great value holiday have a look at the YHA site for other lovely hostels.

Here are some pictures from our stay;

* On another note hope you don’t mind me mentioning a teensy thing. As we speak voting is underway for the first stages of the MAD blog awards. These awards recognise parenting blogs. The awards happen in a posh London hotel where you have to dress up all glam and sup champagne and talk in a really posh accent of your choice (that last part is possibly not true).  Anyway myself and my pixies rather fancy joining the festivities so if you fancy vote for Purplemum here (I’m thinking the family life category) then I would be most grateful. You have until the 18th of February.
