bell tent

My husband has been known to describe my approach to life as terrier like. He means I get obsessed with an idea and can’t let it go until I’ve seen it to fruition. Last month I became obsessed with bell tents. I’d heard about them through friends, checked them out online and fallen in love with them. Unlike their nylon counterparts they’re more than functional, they’re beautiful. After further investigation I discovered claims that they’re also easy to erect, even that they only take 15 mins, which for a family sized tent is amazing. I had to have one.

Then of course I had to go camping, so with our trip to Peppa Pig World planned I decided we would make a weekend of it and test out our new tent. On the drive to the new forest we stopped for a picnic at the side of the road. Scrambling through a hole in a hedge we found a cornfield, a little prickly to sit on but it made for a lovely photo opportunity.

Onto the camp site where we discovered that the stories are true, and we erected our tent in 15 minutes, brilliant. Once up I fell even harder for our beautiful tent. The children enjoyed the freedom of camping and were running around all afternoon and evening. At bedtime Purpledad and I got to enjoy some games of cards instead of our usual collapse in front of the TV, which was lovely.

After a fantastic day at Peppa Pig World, and another sleep, it was time to pack up. With everyone bundled into the car, and a satisfied tiredness all round we headed home. I’m sure we’ll have many more adventures with our new home from home.

p.s. I bought my bell tent from here, the service was brilliant and the tent arrived the day after ordering. Ours is the 5 metre bell tent, and is a brilliant size for our family of five with room to grow.
