Last weekend marked the start of the countdown to Christmas in the Purple household. The opening of the first door on the advent calendar, and the excitement began. We also went to visit Westonbirt Arboretum’s Enchanted Christmas, the perfect start to the festive season.
The walk through the lit up arboretum after dark is absolutely magical. There are beautifully lit up trees, lichen glistening in the lights like frost. We found lots of interactive displays, one where drums illuminate the night. A sound activated display which only lights up in full at the right volume. Super Kid gave a rousing rendition of ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ and was rewarded by the full display as well as a round of applause.
We saw our faces lit up on shrubbery, can you tell which is who?
We found a tree that made the biggest lava lamp I’ve ever seen.
At the end of the trail we were extremely excited to find Father Christmas, all dressed in green as traditional as can be. I would wholeheartedly recommend you visit Westonbirt Arboretum’s Enchanted Christmas, it really is something very special. Go here for more details.
*Disclosure: we were given tickets to The Enchanted Christmas for the purposes of this review.
That looks awesome, especially the lava lamp tree. I definitely need to head down there next year, all those trees, my two would love it!
Yes, it’s a lovely one for kids.
I have heard so much about the Christmas at Westonbirt – looks amazing. I’m going to go and check ticket prices 🙂
It’s definitely worth the ticket price, it’s really something special.
Oooh we saw this all set up last weekend, it looked very impressive!
Yes, when we visited a few weeks earlier we saw them setting it up. Wonder Girl was very excited by this.
This has made me so excited! We’re going in a couple of weeks! My mother in law is coming too and she’s never been to Westonbirt so it’s all round going to be lots of fun!
Ooh, enjoy.
Ohhhh, we haven’t been since the older children were little, I think we might need to visit this year, I’d forgotten how lovely it is!
Yes, it’s a really good one for the whole family to enjoy.
I want to go, I want to go!
Then get yourself there missis, and pull yourself together!
that looks amazing – did you visit there last year? the lava lamp tree trunk is so cool and how clever that you are able to see your faces in the hedges!! Nice to see Father Christmas with an extra long traditional beard too . shame i dont live closer x x
Yes, this is my second year working with Westonbirt, what a lucky girl I am.
I think I read about this place on your blog last year and have been planning to go since then! Annoying it’s so far from me but def gonna do it this year I think x
Cherry would love it!
Thanks for another lovely review and I’m glad you enjoyed this years trail as much as last year. It really means a lot to get such positive comments after such a lot of hard work, it makes it all worthwhile. We’re still working on lots of ideas and in fact are test running a touch sensitive drum kit tonight – fingers crossed the electronics are up to it! We also changed around the lighting on the giant mirrorball to make it even prettier. But if all fails we still have the fairy blowing giant, smoke filled bubbles and giant smoke ring + laser to fall back on not to mention all the magnificent trees (maybe minus a branch or 2 after yesterday’s wind) which, thankfully, don’t need much in the way of technology in order to make look good . A special thanks also to all the staff at Westonbirt who undoubtedly help make this one of our favourite jobs of the year. Wishing you a magical Christmas. Ben and the team at Powerline
Thanks for popping by for a read Ben, I’m in love with Enchanted Christmas, you really do a fabulous job.
This looks fabulous. My two love going out in the dark and to have Santa at the end it must be truly magical! x
