Super Kid last weekend you turned seven. My wonderful little professor, what a joy it’s been to see you grow this year.
This was the year that you discovered the joy of curling up with a book. I’ve had the pleasure of introducing you to some of my old favourites, Roald Dahl, and Enid Blyton, as well as some of your own discoveries, Spy Dog, and the Doctor Who series. Speaking of which you also discovered Dr Who this year, in a big way, and to my absolute delight you love it as much as your Dad and I do. What a pleasure it’s been discussing Doctor Who bad guys and favourite side kicks with you.
Six saw you learn how to spell more words than I can fathom a brain absorbing in such a short time. You bring home stories you’ve written, carefully practised handwriting tells me wonderfully descriptive stories full of your personality, I love them.
This year we tackled maths together, you were frustrated as it wasn’t immediately easy. So we sat down together and we practised it, and you committed and then we saw progress. Later I picked you up from school and you were actually excited about some maths you’d done, and the challenge you’d enjoyed. I was so proud to see you learning how to learn.
Six saw you start ballet dancing. Every week you ran out of the class excited, proudly showing us your new moves at home. Then you did your first exam, you had to learn routines and perform them for an examiner. You practised every day, passed the exam with a merit and have moved up from primary into the grade one class.
It’s been a fantastic year, and a pleasure to see you grow in confidence and independence. I love you more than I previously imagined I was capable of loving. Thank you for bringing yet more love and fun into our lives this year and I look forward to seeing what seven will bring.

Looks like he had a fantastic birthday!
I do love the cake I want one for my birthday….hehehe x
Thanks, yes I would like the real thing complete with Matt Smith for mine.
That cake is amazing! I loved reading about his 6th year. It makes me look forward to enjoying my own children as they grow up. He is such a wonderful, beautiful boy. Happy birthday to you too, as you’ve reached seven years of motherhood.
Thanks, can’t believe it’s been seven years but then equally life before children does feel like a distant memory.
