Last weekend we were in Birmingham for a very special party. We were there to celebrate my Granny’s 90th birthday. For the first time ever, all of the members of my Granny’s family gathered in one place for her 90th birthday party. We ate a ton of buffet food and whilst my Uncle’s Jazz band played my Gran circulated like a social butterfly, catching up with her Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and friends.
My Granny is a very special lady. She’s a super Gran and she’s also a pretty all round awesome person. She has a sharp mind, and is very witty, sometimes cracking us up with jokes you would never expect from a lady her age. Kind, caring and incredibly patient, I can only aspire and hope to become more like her as I mature. So Gran, if you’re reading this, you’re one of a kind and I love you loads!
We stayed at my Uncles house, very kind of him because we are not a quiet family. This gave me a chance to catch up properly with my Aunt and Uncle, and my cousin, with whom I have a lot of childhood memories. My children played with her child and plans were underfoot for a future gathering.
Family are important, and making time to stay in touch is too. A fact I often forget in the midst of the crazy of my life. Here are some photos from the weekend.
It is wonderful to have family together and even better when it is for a happy celebration. We have recently had two christenings and they have been such joyous occasions
Yes it is, thanks for commenting Jen.
you look like your Granny Ella! what a wonderful family get together – it is nice to catch up with people you dont see often. it is normally a wedding that does this for our family x
What. Lovely post. My nanas 90th was almost 4 years ago now, but I will always remember it, like with you it was a reason for the family to get together. It was icy and snowy, but lovely.
Glad you enjoyed it, your Gran looks so much younger on the photo than she is.
Xxx
Lovely happy photos!
Doesn’t your Gran look amazing for 90???! I love these sorts of get-togethers – they really warm the cockles. We recently celebrated my Grandma’s 90th and it was a similarly festive affair.
I think so, thanks.
