the gruffalo's child trail at westonbirt arboretum

The perfect antidote to the excesses of Christmas is a wintry walk in the woods. After long lazy days of hibernation, excess eating and TV overload we all needed to get outside. So we headed to Westonbirt because I’d heard they had a Gruffalo in the woods, and we wanted to find him.

All wrapped up and full of pent up energy (and chocolate) the children excitedly ran round the trail, searching for the Gruffalo’s child who was hiding in the trees. They also hunted amongst the tree’s and on the ground for woodland treasure, putting pine cones, leaves and twigs carefully in our bag to take home.

Here are some pictures from our adventure. Look out for the Gruffalo.
