I love watching films. It’s been one of my favourite activities since I was a small child, when a visit to the video shop followed by the Chinese takeaway signalled an awesome evening ahead. So when the organisers of Bristol Film Festival got in touch to tell me about the exciting events they have planned I just had to tell you all about this fantastic festival.

Bristol Film Festival is a celebration of the impact and influence of the moving image throughout contemporary society. Taking place from the 11th to the 13th of March there is a film showing, or workshop to suit everyone. Events are held at various venues throughout the city.

I had a look at the website and picked out some events I think my family would enjoy. I really fancy the showing of Night at the Museum at Bristol Museum which includes a behind the scenes tour. A showing of my all time favourite family film Labyrinth at the Arnolfini also appeals. There will be a make a film in a day workshop aimed at 10-16 year olds also at the Arnolfini.

Bristol Zoo are showing Madagascar on the 11th March at 7pm. I can just imagine how excited my children would be to see one of their favourite films surrounded by the animals characterised in the film!  Included in the ticket price is zoo access for any point during the festival weekend (normally £17.00 for an adult ticket) as well as one pass to the Wild Place Project, Bristol Zoo’s new extension, which is valid for one month (normally £7.20 for an adult ticket).
