Today I’m going to tell you about our visit to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum. There was no post last week because the Purple family were having a London adventure! We spent a week in London, staying in a flat in Camden (my first experience of airbnb) and we really packed it in. Returning home to a mountain of washing and a ton of photographs to edit.

First the background. I was invited to visit Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum by a brand I have worked with many times, Micro Scooter. They had gotten together with Little Bird ,who provide offers, ideas and savings for families, on a project about #weekdayweekends.

So basically the idea is that you can do things on summer weekdays that you can’t do on winter weekdays. That’s why we all love the summer. The plan was that we would take our Micro Scooters (we all have one cos they’re just so awesome) to London and use them on our day out. Perfect, I thought, we love scooting, we love days out, what’s not to love about that plan.

However we arrived in London and found negotiating the tube, and the crowds of central London with three children pretty stressful. So I’m afraid we chickened out of attempting the same with scooters in tow. I think scooting round London would probably be quick, fun and easy once you have your bearings, but we did not and I didn’t want to risk losing either the scooters or the children.

Anyway, off we headed to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum for a day of looking at the extraordinary, the unusual and the downright strange. It was brilliant, seriously one of my favourite visits to a museum ever.

The practical stuff;  

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum is on Piccadilly Circus right by the underground station of the same name.

It’s open seven days a week from 10am until midnight (last entry at 10.30pm).

It took us around three hours to visit and we saw everything.

Ripley’s has a snack stop but this is really just vending machines and an area to eat. I’d recommend planning your visit to avoid meal times.

What you can see/do; 

See;

Animals with the incorrect number of heads/limbs, the world’s largest rocking chair, pictures made out of – dung/butterflies/computer keys/food, shrunken heads, a man with two sets of pupils, a man who had a candle implanted in his head, a display of microscopic models, the world’s tallest man, a ship made out of matchsticks and more. 

Do;

Mirror Maze, Black Hole, Impossible Laser Race, and the chance to see how many of your family it would take to match the weight of the world’s heaviest man (clue, our family didn’t come close). 

I would absolutely recommend visiting Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum. It entertained all the ages in our family and was really good fun. Little Bird currently have several offers for Ripley’s.
