Having always loved superheroes and superhero movies I wanted to consider my five best superhero movies.
As a young child I genuinely believed that it was possible to acquire a superhero power. I spent hours jumping of walls, hoping to fly, and sometimes I swear I felt a little hover before I hit the ground.
Telekinesis also felt doable, especially after reading Roald Dahl’s Matilda. Perhaps if I stared for long enough I could move things with my mind. In time I would be able to freak out my teachers by writing on the board by levitating a piece of chalk.
Though I’ve long since stopped trying to fly, or move things with my mind, I still love superheroes and superhero movies.
Five Best Superhero movies;
With so many amazing superhero movies being released lately it’s really hard to pick five. Here are my five current favourites.
Ant Man
Paul Rudd is one of my favourite actors, I’ve loved him since his role as Mike in friends so this movie was always going to hit the spot for me.
Ant Man, released in 2015, is amazing in its ridiculousness. A man who can don a suit and shrink to the size of an ant, and communicate with and utilise real ants. What’s not to love, right?
Gardians Of The Galaxy
Another wonderfully ridiculous movie. Released in 2014, with an equally wonderful sequel released this year. It features a fantastic 80’s soundtrack, a Hans Soloesque hero, a blue man, a green lady, and a tree man who only uses the word Groot to communicate. Seriously awesome.
X-Men Days Of Future Past
The X-Men franchise began in 2000 with X-Men. To be honest I was a little underwhelmed by the earlier movies so I didn’t have high hopes for Days Of Future Past. I really wanted to love the X -Men movies but I just didn’t, until Days Of Future Past.
If you only watch one X-Men movie, make it this one.
Deadpool
2016’s Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds isn’t really strictly speaking a superhero movie. Deadpool is an antihero. Definitely not one for children, it’s violent, sweary, totally irreverent and awesome.
Captain America:Civil War
For as long as I can remember I’ve been waiting for a superhero movie with a massive hero against hero fight sequence, and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War did not disappoint.
Team Iron Man – War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther, The Vision and Spiderman.
Team Captain America – Hawkeye, Sharon Carter, Falcon, Bucky Barnes, Ant Man and Scarlett Witch.
If you don’t get goosebumps imagining that battle then I think you need to up your daily dose of comic book reading!
