SS Great Britain - Victorian Summer Circus

Last week the Purple family visited the SS Great Britain for the launch of their summer activities. We had an absolute blast. Having visited the SS Great Britain previously we knew we were in for a treat but the evening surpassed our expectations. It was so much fun.

We were treated to circus shows, workshops and live music. Whilst enjoying treats like candy floss and popcorn. After that we explored the ship, getting a real feel for what life would have been like aboard.

What’s on over the summer;

Over the summer visitors to the SS Great Britain will be treated to circus performances from  Cirque Bijou’s Crossing The Line. They will be performing a show, inspired by the iconic ship’s fascinating voyages, three times a day starting at 12.30.

If the show gets your creative juices flowing then you can take part in a circus skills workshop which will be held from 12-4 and you can drop in at any time.

You can also have a go at climbing the rigging with Go Aloft. I did this earlier in the year and it’s a really unique, incredible experience that I would definitely recommend.

Of course you can also explore the ship’s museum, and the ship itself. It’s a wonderful insight into the building of, and life aboard the SS Great Britain. Whilst exploring over the summer you will meet Victorian characters, and even get to shake hands with Brunel.

Visitor information;

You can book tickets online, a family of four costs £37 and the Go Aloft experience costs an additional £10 per person. For more information on the Victorian summer circus visit the SS Great Britain website.
