Today’s not a good day in Purple land. I am struggling. CFS symptoms combined with the rigidity of thinking from being autistic are leaving me unable to cope and unable to make the changes I need to make to be able to function better.
Which has inspired me to make this video about coping with change. How difficult change is for autistic people and the problems this can cause.
It is scary putting out this kind of content. Admitting I’m struggling and laying my stuff out there on the internet. I do it in hopes that sharing is helpful, and opens dialogue about the challenges autistic people face.
So I hope it’s useful, and if it is then please do share my content and subscribe to my channel. Hopefully next week I will be feeling better.
Hi Ella,
You came across as perfectly coherent to me !! I love that you are so pen and honest with how it is for you. I’m not going to try and offer you any suggestions or advice because as you say it’s not that you don’t understand your dilemma it just is what it is !
I just want you to know that these mental ‘blocks’ , or moments when you know what might be the best for you but are unable to do what ever that thing is also happen to people without and identifiable condition. I find myself unable to face a number of administrative/organisational issues , even though I know that leaving then longer only makes life difficult for myself.
Many people find they are their own worst enemy even if it is not as extreme as addiction or depression…it maybe be anxiety about specific tasks in life or just not believing in our/their ability to cope.
So this message is not going to offer any solutions but to let you know that some of us can empathise and feel for you in your situation. You’re not alone…
I hope that whichever way it goes…off to Bestival or having some quality family time at home that it works out well for you , Mr Purple and your lovely children.
Much Love
Ben xx
Thanks Ben.
