I have emetophobia a fear of vomiting. Like many phobias it’s distressing and inconvenient. Sickness is an inevitable part of family life, which means I have to face my phobia regularly.

My children regularly complain of sore tummies. Usually caused by anxiety or the common autistic gastro issues. Even so each time I’m swept up in a wave of anxiety that they might vomit. Each time I face my fears and try not to let them control me. Or affect the care that I give to my children.

If I’m sick myself then it’s harder to control.

I made this video to talk about emetophobia. How I experience it, and the strategies I use to reduce the impact of emetophobia on my life. I am also sharing some suggestions for people with severe emetophobia who might need more support and help.
