My experience of autism and learning to drive was not straightforward. I initially tried when I was 17, as this is the legal driving age here in the UK. I finally passed my test when I was 24, after many years of thinking I would never drive.
So I made this video to talk about the challenges I think might face autistic people who want to learn to drive. I also discuss the areas I think we need to consider to make driving more accessible for autistic people. Plus some things to consider as an autistic person to make your learner driving experience less stressful.
In this blog post I shared my top five tips to keep the cost of driving down.
Here is some information from the National Autistic Society about driving.
