It’s time for my monthly questions and answers video. I asked for your questions over on my Facebook page, and I try to answer as many as possible. I was happy to be able to film this months video with my autistic pal Ros, as she was back in Bristol for the weekend.
We are answering questions such as, how to prepare for an autism assessment? How to cope with unsupportive relatives after diagnosis and do we find it easier to make friends with men than women?

I had my pre-assessment at b.a.s.s in Bristol. I’ve come away feeling more confused now then before i went. They told me if i had been see as a child i would of most likely had a diagnosis but now they don’t think i won’t get a diagnosis. I came away confused and upset so decided to call PAL to complain about the way it was handled. Had a call from Allison the lady who was present i told her more thoughts that i forgot to mention and she decided i would benefit from a full assessment and also asked me a load of questions and has also reffered me to adhd team. My question is was the process this stressful for you? I’m almost talking myself out of not doing it. Thanks in advance
Hi Kim, I’m sorry to hear that you found this process stressful. I went to BASS before they did the pre assessments. I didn’t find my full assessment stressful, I have also been referred to the ADHD team, but apparently the wait is 2.5 years! Best of luck with your assessments.
